Political Grind Time

For those of us rooting for Ron Paul in the 2012 Republican Presidential Primaries; a brokered convention is a necessity.

There is no way Ron Paul will be able to grab 1,144 delegates before the Republican National Convention. Which none of us can explain since he pulls a bigger crowd than Romney and Gingrich combined (and Santorum, but he’s out); it’s an enigma.

So here is the breakdown:

There are a total of 2,000 delegates to be awarded from the fifty states of our grand old county. Any one candidate needs 1,144 delegates to secure the Republican Nomination.

Romney has 841 delegates thus far and only needs 303 more to secure the nomination.

Every other candidate (basically Ron Paul) needs to gobble up 381 of the remain delegates in order to force a brokered convention.

The last Republican Primary brokered convention was in 1940; and the last time the Presidency was won on a brokered convention was the 1932 election of FDR.
