The Ingress Addiction

Ingress, the mysterious game from Google Labs.

In this, Android only, AR (Augmented Reality) game the goal is to gain all the mind unites for you team. There are two teams, the Enlightened and the Resistance.

The Enlightened wants to accept the new-found phenomenon and use it to further human evolution; where as, the Resistance wishes to fight the phenomenon and protect the our delicate species.

In order to control “mind units” your team must add resonators to any portal and connect each fully stocked portal to at least three to control an area. In order to get resonators you must hack the portals, any one will do; but beware, hacking a portal that the opposing team has control over will cause damage to you.

Along with resonators, hacking portals can give you keys (used for connecting two portals), XMP Bursters (used for destroying opposing team’s portals), and Niantic documents.

My Thoughts on Ingress

I have been playing this game for three days now and I am totally hooked, it might be all I think about next to my fiancée. I enjoy feeling like a secret agent, walking around my city capturing portals and leveling up.

Just shy of level three and looking forward to the advancement; since it will allow me to connect portals that are further away. Believe me, once you get in you will never want to get out.

Add your Google account email the this list and wait. It only took me two days to get an activation code; but that is only because a generous man gave me his spare.

Don’t forget to check out the Niantic Project‘s site for all the back story!
